POSITION OVERVIEW

The 80 Acres Finance Team is looking for a Staff Accountant. This role will support and be responsible for a diverse range of accounting activities. The ideal candidate should be comfortable with working within the general ledger as well as accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets and inter-company accounts.

To be successful in this role you should be comfortable working in a collaborative, complex, fast-moving environment. This position will report to the VP of Accounting and Controllership.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  • Participate in portions of the accounts payable, accounts receivable and fixed asset processes
  • Interface and collaborate with different internal stakeholders as needed
  • Involvement in month-end close activities
  • Create detailed documentation of key processes and standard operating procedures (SOP’s)
  • Manage ad-hoc projects on behalf of the Finance Department
  • Prepare of key financial reports, including balance sheet, income statement, cashflow statements
  • Reconcile bank accounts monthly, verify deposits, addresses inquiries from banks
  • Verify and/or complete payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensure payments are charged to the appropriate accounts
  • Support the independent audit process, providing external auditors with information, documentation, and guidance as necessary
  • File tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies
  • Maintain knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures and ensure compliance within their workload
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS OR ABILITIES

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Understanding and adherence to generally accepted accounting principles
  • Ability to identify and work to correct gaps in key processes to drive efficiency
  • Team player, collaborator
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Able to manage and prioritize multiple projects and demanding workload at times
  • Experience in ERP systems and sub-ledger accounting
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • Two years of related experience required
  • CPA preferred, Advanced/Master’s degree a plus
